Wolves promoted

Wolves have sealed their return to the
Championship following a 2-0 win at Crewe
on Saturday.
Kenny Jackett's side knew a win at Gresty
Road would be enough to elevate them to
the second tier after Rotherham drew 0-0
with Bradford on Friday.
And they achieved just that courtesy of
goals from Kevin McDonald and David
Edwards.
Wanderers were a Premier League team
just three seasons ago but two successive
relegations left them in the third tier for
the first time since 1988/89.
Their promotion also marks a personal
triumph for Jackett, who resigned as
Millwall boss and was then appointed by
Wolves last May following the sacking of
previous manager Dean Saunders.
Third-placed Leyton Orient kept up the
pressure on Brentford in second by
hammering Gillingham 5-1 while the Bees
went down 1-0 at play-off-chasing
Swindon.
David Mooney scored twice for Orient,
with Dean Cox, Kevin Lisbie and Chris
Dagnall getting the others. Craig Fagan
scored for Gillingham.
Preston are already assured a play-off spot
but showed no signs of letting up as they
beat Carlisle 6-1, thanks in part to a Craig
Davies hat-trick.
Sixth-placed Peterborough beat Coventry
to maintain a seven-point gap between
themselves and nearest challenger
Swindon.
At the bottom, Notts County staged a
superb comeback against Port Vale to lift
themselves out of the relegation zone.
Goals from Curtis Thompson and Gavin
Tomlin gave Port Vale a 2-0 lead after 25
minutes, but it was level at half-time
thanks to a James Spencer double before
Jamal Campbell-Ryce grabbed a brace of his
own to give County the win.
Shrewsbury went down 2-1 at Tranmere, a
result which leaves them second-bottom,
two points above Stevenage, who lost 3-2
at Colchester, and but two points behind
Crewe, Carlisle and Notts County.
In other results, Bristol City won 1-0 at
Walsall, while Crawley claimed a 2-0
victory at MK Dons.

Don't know of Portsmouth oo! Lol

Guardiola now a philosopher?

Pep Guardiola was
philosophical after
watching his Bayern
Munich slip to a 3-0
defeat to Borussia
Dortmund , insisting their slump in form
was "expected".
The champions have now taken just one
point from three top-flight matches since
retaining their crown at Hertha Berlin last
month.
Guardiola's side had dropped just four
points all season prior to their coronation
in the capital, but drew 3-3 with
Hoffenheim and lost 1-0 at Augsburg
before this weekend's humbling at the
hands of second-placed Dortmund.
"When you win the title, you suffer a dip,"
said the Spaniard.
"It was the same for me at Barcelona. Now
we have to get back (to our previous
form)."
Bayern were lacklustre throughout
Saturday's contest, as Dortmund's front
four of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang,
Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Marco Reus and Jonas
Hofmann - Robert Lewandowski started on
the bench - caused the back four all sorts of
problems.
"Congratulations to Dortmund," Guardiola
added.
"We didn't get into our rhythm today and
we were unable to score."
Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer was
withdrawn at the break after complaining of
discomfort in his calf, but the Germany
number one was quick to insist he will be
fit for Wednesday's DFB-Pokal semi-final
against Kaiserslautern.
"I went off as a precaution but I can play in
the cup in during the week," he said.

Barca stunned

Barcelona's La Liga
hopes suffered a
devastating blow on
Saturday evening after
Yacine Brahimi's first
half strike gave Granada a shock 1-0 win.
The Algerian's third goal of the season in
the first half gave the Andalusian outfit
their first win over the champions since
they returned to the top flight in the 2011.
Barca were dumped out of the Champions
League at the quarter-final stage by Liga
title rivals Atletico Madrid in midweek, and
the pressure on coach Gerardo Martino was
ramped up again at Estadio Nuevo Los
Carmenes.
Neymar cut a frustated figure as he
spurned several chances, and defeat
ensured Barca missed the chance to
replace Atletico - who play on Sunday - at
the top of the table, while victory for
Granada eased their relegation fears.
Martino stated in the build-up to this game
that Barca's season would be deemed a
failure following their Champions League
exit, and he must now hope his side
respond by winning the Copa del Rey final
against Real Madrid on Wednesday.
Xavi, Jordi Alba and Dani Alves dropped to
the bench as Martino rang the changes
following the loss at Atletico and, probably,
with one eye on the Copa final.
Barca made a bright start, but they were
stunned when the home side took the lead
just 16 minutes in.
Midfielder Fran Rico was the architect, with
a pass that pierced the Barca defence, and
Brahimi raced away from Martin Montoya
before beating Jose Pinto with a right-foot
finish inside the near post.
Granada wanted a penalty when Youssef El-
Arabi went down under a challenge from
Javier Mascherano, but referee Carlos
Delgado saw nothing untoward.
Neymar should have done better when he
headed Montoya's inviting cross over the
crossbar, before the Brazil forward tried his
luck with a measured right-foot strike from
outside the area that was palmed away by
Orestis Karnezis.
Former Santos man Neymar was becoming
increasingly tetchy, and he was somewhat
fortunate to escape with only a yellow card
when he kicked out at Allan Nyom just
before half-time.
Barca got straight back on the front foot
after the break and Granada were indebted
to a fine save from Karnezis to keep out a
Cesc Fabregas strike that looked destined
for the back of the net.
Neymar was wasteful once again when he
fired a left-foot strike wide of the far post
12 minutes into the second half as the
home side came under yet more pressure.
Karnezis then thwarted Barca again with an
outstanding reflex save from a Lionel Messi
free-kick, before smothering Sergio
Busquets' strike from close range.
Neymar's misery continued 17 minutes
from time when he volleyed wide at the far
post, and Andres Iniesta then flashed a
shot just wide of the far post.
El-Arabi could have sealed the points three
minutes from time when he raced through
on goal, but Pinto denied him.
That miss was not to prove costly, though,
as the home side held on for three
precious points in their battle to avoid the
drop and dealt a big blow to Barca's title
hopes.

B. Dortnund thrashes Bayern Munich

Borussia
Dortmund salvaged
some Bundesliga pride
after their 3-0 win at
the Allianz Arena
condemned champions Bayern Munich to a
second successive league defeat.
Jurgen Klopp opted to leave Bayern-bound
Robert Lewandowski on the bench and that
proved an inspired decision, as his front
four ran Pep Guardiola's team ragged.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan opened the scoring 20
minutes in, with Marco Reus and Jonas
Hofmann getting in on the act after the
interval, before Rafinha was sent off for the
hosts in injury-time.
Bayern's dominated the ball early on, but
the searing pace of Pierre-Emerick
Aubameyang and Reus caused the hosts'
high defensive line problems on the break.
And the pair combined with Mkhitaryan
and Hofmann, the other members of
Dortmund's rampant frontline, to put the
visitors ahead.
Hofmann's throw-in was flicked to Reus by
Aubameyang, and he picked out an
unmarked Mkhitaryan in the area, who
coolly finished left-footed past Manuel
Neuer.
Neuer was taken off at half-time with a
suspected calf injury, and his debutant
replacement Lukas Raeder's first task was
to pick the ball out of the net.
Dortmund's forward line again wreaked
havoc, with Reus applying the finishing
touch on 49 minutes with his seventh goal
in his last five matches.
Hofmann then added a third - before
making way for Lewandowski - to affirm
Klopp's tactical superiority over Guardiola
on the day of his 200th Bundesliga match
in charge of Dortmund.
A late rally from the hosts saw Mandzukic
have a header ruled out for offside but
Rafinha was sent off in injury time for a
moment of madness when he struck
Mkhitaryan in the face.
And Dortmund comfortably held on to give
Bayern a taste of their own medicine after
the Bavarians won 3-0 at Signal Iduna Park
back in November.

Manuel Neuer injured

Bayern Munich
goalkeeper Manuel
Neuer was withdrawn
at half-time of his
side's Bundesliga
match with Borussia Dortmund , with the
club confirming the Germany international
had been replaced because of a calf injury.
The shot stopper played all of the first half
as his side went 1-0 down to their rivals on
Saturday but didn't emerge for the restart,
having been replaced by 20-year-old Lukas
Raeder.
Neuer's absence was felt from the early
stages of the second period as his young
replacement conceded twice in the first 12
minutes, being caught in a poor position
from Marco Reus and then seeing Jonas
Hofmann smashing over him and into the
back of the net shortly afterwards.
The injury could become a real problem for
Pep Guardiola as they prepare to meet Real
Madrid on April 23 in the semi-final of the
Champions League and Kaiserslautern in
the DFB-Pokal on Wednesday April
16. Bayern's second choice goalkeeper Tom
Starke has been ruled out for the
remainder of the season after tearing
a ligament in his right elbow.

Kompany a doubt for Liverpool

Manchester City
skipper Vincent
Kompany is a doubt
for Sunday's huge
Premier League title
clash with Liverpool ,
Goal can reveal.
The centre-back landed awkwardly
following a collision with team-mate Micah
Richards as City practiced set-pieces during
their final training session before travelling
to Liverpool for the crunch meeting at
Anfield.
The Belgium international, who had to be
carried off the training pitch my team-
mates, will now be assessed by City's
medical team with early indications that he
may have suffered a jarred knee, thus
making him a major doubt to be fit enough
to face Brendan Rodgers's side.
Should Kompany fail to shake off the injury,
Manuel Pellegrini will be forced to shuffle
his pack and could potentially start with
holding midfielder Javi Garcia at centre-
back.
The Spaniard has had experience playing at
the back for City, with the 27-year-old
former Benfica star occupying a central
defensive role when, ironically, Kompany
was sent off in the 2-0 win over Hull City
back in March.
Joleon Lescott could also get the nod to
start alongside Martin Demichelis, with
Matija Nastasic still recovering from a knee
injury and having not featured for the club
since February.
The absence of the influential Belgian
would come as a massive blow to City and
their title bid, with Pellegrini facing up to
the prospect of taking on deadly strike duo
Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge without
his key central defender.

Former blue invests in old club

Former Chelsea star
Florent Malouda is
investing in his former
club Berrichonne de
Chateauroux and will
soon join the board of directors.
The attacker, currently with Turkish side
Trabzonspor, started his career with the
Ligue 2 side, where he made his debut at
16 and spent four years with the team
before moving on to join Guingamp and
latterly Lyon and Chelsea.
The 33-year-old had his first interaction
with the board on Saturday and will begin
to make long-term investments into the
club.
A statement on the club's official website
read: "Florent Malouda today participated
in the Board of Directors of Berrichonne de
Chateauroux, his first club to which he has
always remained very close.
"He will soon be integrated into the
management board as his career
develops. This return is a new, unique and
rare gesture of a great player going back to
where it started."

Luiz: Chelsea can win title

David Luiz wants Chelsea to use the belief
gained from their Champions League
fightback as a boost for their Premier
League title bid.
Chelsea, the 2012 winners, will play
Atletico Madrid in the semi-finals of
Europe's elite competition after
overturning a two-goal deficit to Paris
Saint-Germain, who won 3-1 in the first leg
in Paris but lost 2-0 in London.
But domestic duty is now the immediate
priority, with Sunday's match at Swansea
next up as Chelsea bid to keep pace at the
top of the table with Liverpool and
Manchester City, who meet at Anfield on
the same day.
Damaging away defeats to Aston Villa and
Crystal Palace have handed the initiative to
Liverpool and City, with Brendan Rodgers'
Reds two points better off than the Blues,
and City just two behind but with two
games in hand.
Luiz has urged his team-mates to believe
they can still be crowned kings of England,
and has told them to keep the faith.
"It's still possible to win the league, so
come on, let's enjoy the position we are in
and believe, like we did against Paris St
Germain," he said on chelseafc.com. "We
need to have faith because we can still do
it.
"Mathematically it's still possible but every
game in the Premier League is difficult, as
it will be on Sunday.
"Swansea are tough opponents and we've
seen in the last few seasons, every time
we go there it's a difficult game.
"We need to try to do our best and win
the match."
Luiz has struggled to break into Jose
Mourinho's first-choice defence but
instead has convinced the manager to field
him in defensive midfield, performing with
aplomb.
The Brazilian said: "Everybody knows when
I'm on the pitch I give everything and play
with my heart, but everybody played with
the same spirit.
"I watched the (PSG) game back at home
afterwards and it was fantastic to see
every player working hard, wanting the ball
and helping each other.
"I was happy with my performances in
both legs; when you win people look at the
game in a different way but that's football,
it's about results, not performances."
Looking ahead to the April 22 trip to
Atletico, Luiz stressed the importance of a
strong showing in the first leg.
"It's always good to play the second leg at
home, but only if you do well in the first
leg," he added.
"If not, your heart can stop, especially if
it's like the matches in Paris and Napoli (in
2012), we don't want that to happen again.
"You cannot choose who you play, all four
sides are great teams, that's why they are
in the semi-finals.
"Atletico are a top team, they beat
Barcelona, they're top of the league and
they have a great manager.
"Their philosophy is a good one and it will
be a tough game, but I love big matches, I
love the pressure and the responsibility it
brings, so I'm looking forward to it."

Guardiola: Real Madrid a huge challenge for Bayern

Pep Guardiola labelled
Bayern Munich ’s
Champions League
semi-final against Real
Madrid a “huge
challenge”.
The Bavarians are being tipped by many
pundits to become the first side to
successfully retain the European Cup since
AC Milan followed up their demolition of
Steaua Bucharest in 1989 with a 1-0 win
over Benfica the following year.
However, former Barcelona boss Guardiola
is acutely aware of the threat posed to his
side's Champions League hopes by Madrid.
"The draw is the draw," the Catalan told a
press conference. “But Real Madrid are a
tough draw. I know their team well.
"They have a great team and a great coach
[Carlo Ancelotti], so it will be a huge
challenge for us. But we are looking
forward to it."
The first leg will take place at the Santiago
Bernabeu on April 23 and although it has
been reported that thigh injury victim
Cristiano Ronaldo will not have recovered
in time, Guardiola expects to have to
contend with the Portuguese superstart.
"I believe he will play against us," the ex-
Spain international stated. "We will prepare
for the game believing that he will be in
the team.
"We watched their game against [Borussia]
Dortmund and will watch them in the Copa
del Rey against Barcelona [on Wednesday].
We'll analyse everything."
Bayern return to domestic action on
Saturday against second-place Dortmund,
with the Bavarians side having already
secured the Bundesliga title in March, a
record seven games before the season’s
end.
However, Guardiola insisted his team will
approach the match like any other, and
spoke of similarities between Dortmund
and Real Madrid’s style of football.
He continued: “It will be a real test. If we
try and play even a little relaxed tomorrow
[Saturday], we don't stand a chance.
"Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund are
the best counterattacking sides in the
world.”

Velez Sarsfield carries the baton for Argentine clubs in Copa Libertadores

SAO PAULO (AP) — Velez Sarsfield
finished with the best campaign in the
group stage of the Copa Libertadores,
leading three other Argentine clubs into
the second round.
Three Brazilian clubs, including defending
champion Atletico Mineiro, led by
Ronaldinho, also advanced in Latin
America's top club competition.
The group stage ended Thursday with
Paraguayan club Nacional and Colombian
team Nacional de Medellin grabbing the
last two spots in the round of 16.
It is the first time in more than 10 years
that Brazil doesn't have the most teams
in the second round. Brazilian clubs have
won the competition four straight years
and reached the final nine consecutive
times.
Argentina is looking to win the
tournament for the first time since
Estudiantes lifted the trophy in 2009.

Fifa doubts Brazil's drug test competency

MONACO (AP) — FIFA's medical chief is
"really not happy" with drug-testing
plans for the World Cup in Brazil because
samples taken from players must be
flown across the Atlantic for analysis at a
laboratory in Switzerland, which could
slow results.
FIFA had to turn to the Swiss lab because
the Brazilian laboratory that was
expected to analyze World Cup samples
repeatedly failed to comply with World
Anti-Doping Agency standards.
FIFA expects to send about 1,000 blood
and urine samples to the WADA-
accredited facility in Lausanne, at an
extra cost of $250,000 for the governing
body, said Michel D'Hooghe, who chairs
FIFA's medical commission and sits on its
executive committee.
Speaking in an interview with The
Associated Press, D'Hooghe said that at
previous World Cups "we always
managed to have the (anti-doping test)
results before the next game of the
team. So if you were positive or if I was
positive we knew it before you or me
played a second game."
But "I am not quite sure" results will
come back quickly enough for that to
happen in Brazil, he said. That means, at
worse, that a player who has failed a
doping test could still get to play in
another match.
"I hate this. I'm really not happy with
that," D'Hooghe said on the sidelines of a
sports medicine conference. "We have to
live with it. We will do our best. But this
is a weak point. And I attacked this point
in the last meeting of the (Brazil)
organizing committee where I was, yes,
rather, how I say? Disappointed."
Brazil is hosting the World Cup in 12
cities across the world's fifth-largest
country, making transportation for fans,
teams and organizers a major issue.
Samples collected outside of Rio de
Janeiro or Sao Paulo, which together will
host 13 of the 64 matches, must first
travel to either of those cities before
being flown across the Atlantic to Zurich
or Geneva and then going on to
Lausanne, D'Hooghe said. FIFA has
contracted DHL for the transportation,
he said.
D'Hooghe appeared most concerned
about getting samples in a timely fashion
from Manaus in the Amazon basin,
calling it the "worst-case scenario."
Manaus is roughly 4 hours flying time
from Rio and Sao Paulo. England, Italy,
the United States, Portugal, Cameroon,
Croatia, Honduras and Switzerland play a
total of four group matches there.
Samples from Manaus could take
"maybe 36 hours" to get to Lausanne,
said Jiri Dvorak, FIFA's chief medical
officer. From other venues, the travel
time should be 24 hours, he said.
But D'Hooghe expressed concerns about
possible flight delays. Promised
improvements are ready at only two of
13 major airports being used in the June-
July tournament. Analysts are warning
fans to brace for unfinished construction
work, long check-in lines, and last-minute
gate changes and flight delays.
"The problem is not so much the
laboratory, they can easily be ready (with
results on a sample) mostly in 24 hours.
The problem is to get it there,"
D'Hooghe said.
Complex transport logistics might make
it easier for a lawyer defending any
player who failed a test to argue that
FIFA's drug-testing process in Brazil was
unsound. Should a player test positive,
FIFA may have to show to a hearing or
court that the sample wasn't tampered
with on its long journey or poorly
handled in a way that skewed lab
analysis.
"The longer the journey that the sample
has to take and the greater the number
of steps before it gets to a laboratory,
the greater the risk that some form of
mishandling might occur," London-based
sports lawyer Mike Morgan said by email,
in response to questions from the AP.
"Needless to say, FIFA will have a task to
ensure (1) that the chain of custody is
maintained at all times to protect the
integrity of the samples; and (2) that
storage conditions are optimal
throughout the transfer of the samples
so to avoid any risk of sample
degradation. Failure to ensure either one
of these conditions could render the
analysis of any given sample unreliable."
Samples will be transported in
temperature-controlled and monitored
boxes, Dvorak said.
"The samples will be in perfect condition,
but it is also something that costs
money. It is not so easy," D'Hooghe said.
"But I have the guarantees that it will be
done OK, because I have put forward the
same question."

"The European classico"

According to former Bayern
Munich and Real
Madrid midfielder Paul
Breitner has likened
the Champions League
semi-final between his two old clubs as "a
European Clasico".
The holders were pitted against Carlo
Ancelotti's side in Friday's draw in Nyon in
a repeat of the last-four clash from
2011-12, which Bayern won on penalties.
Breitner - who played for Madrid in a
meeting between the sides in 1976 -
admits Bayern have positive recollections
of their previous encounter and claims it
will be a "very special" tie for coach Pep
Guardiola.
"We have quite good memories. We are
convinced we can play the final in Lisbon
because our team is doing so well, we are
so strong, we are on the best way to
defend the treble," he told Eurosport.
"It's a European Clasico. I played it in 1976,
but I was playing the semi for Real Madrid
and we lost. It's a long, long experience for
both clubs in the semi-finals.
"Both matches will be very special ones for
Pep Guardiola, I think he likes to
demonstrate that quality, the level which
our team has under his leadership. I think
he's very happy to play Real Madrid.
"Real is less painful than Atletico or Chelsea
because those two pack the defence.
Manchester United defended with nine
guys in their box, too. The Spanish clubs
prefer playing against English teams than
playing against a German team. That's why
all of the Madrid guys have a lot of
respect."
The other tie sees Jose Mourinho's Chelsea
pitted against Atletico Madrid, who beat
Barcelona in the quarter-finals, and
Breitner believes there is nothing to
separate the remaining sides in the
tournament.
"Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, there is no
difference, we are all at the same level. We
need to play two games at our top level [to
reach the final]," he added.

Ba: I have nothing to prove.

Chelsea striker, Demba Ba, has revealed
he is likely to leave Stamford Bridge at
the end of the season, but insists he has
nothing to prove to Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho has continuously criticized his
three strikers – Demba Ba, Fernando
Torres and Samuel Eto’o – for the lack of
goals throughout the season.
Ba, who has only started four times under
Mourinho, enjoyed his rare moment of
glory, but is still likely to look for a new
club in the summer.
"I don't know, but it's highly likely I
won't be at Chelsea," he said.
"I haven't yet made my decision."
The Senegalese scored the important 2-0
in the 87th minute against Paris Saint-
Germain on Tuesday, which sent Chelsea
into the Champions League semi-finals,
and revealed Mourinho’s critic has
brought Chelsea's strike-trio closer
together.
"It did me good, because I haven't had
great times this year, the chance to have
fun, but I try to make do with what I'm
given," Ba added.
"I have a special relationship with my two
rivals with regard to all that has been said
about us in the papers, that Chelsea
needs strikers.
“That makes us more determined, and
we're more united to show that Chelsea
has three very good strikers. But we
don't have anything to prove to
Mourinho."
Tuesday’s goal was only Ba’s sixth for the
season, while Fernando Torres has scored
nine and Samuel Eto’o sits on 11 - each of
them has scored three in the Champions
League.

three this season? Have your say in

Uefa overrules Chelsea

UEFA insists Atletico Madrid will not have
to pay Chelsea any compensation to field
goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois in the UEFA
Champions League semi-final between the
teams.
Courtois is in his third season on loan with
the Spanish club from Chelsea and the
teams were paired together in Friday's
draw in Nyon.
Media reports suggested Chelsea and
Atletico agreed a clause in the keeper's
contract that the Madrid team would pay
around £5m in compensation if the clubs
clashed in European competition. And
Atletico have indicated that they would not
be prepared to field him at that price, and
would abide by the agreement with the
Blues.
But UEFA look certain to overturn
Chelsea's attempts to prohibit the Belgium
international taking part in a competitive
match between the teams.
A UEFA statement issued prior to the draw
read: "In response to media reports
referring to the situation of Club Atlético
de Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois,
UEFA would like to reiterate its position.
"The integrity of sporting competition is a
fundamental principle for UEFA.
"Both the UEFA Champions League and
the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations contain
clear provisions which strictly forbid any
club to exert, or attempt to exert, any
influence whatsoever over the players that
another club may (or may not) field in a
match.
"It follows that any provision in a private
contract between clubs which might
function in such a way as to influence who
a club fields in a match is null, void and
unenforceable so far as UEFA is concerned.
"Furthermore, any attempt to enforce such
a provision would be a clear violation of
both the UEFA Champions League and the
UEFA Disciplinary Regulations and would
therefore be sanctioned accordingly."

Haha, this is bad for Chelsea, can't wait for Mourinho's comments.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has been
named the Barclays Manager of the Month
for March, with Luis Suarez and Steven
Gerrard jointly winning the Player of the
Month award.
It is the second time this season Rodgers
has won the award - he also collected it
back in August.
Liverpool won all five of their Premier
League matches in March to put
themselves firmly in the hunt for the title.
They beat Manchester United 3-0, Cardiff
City 6-3, Southampton 3-0, Tottenham 4-0
and Sunderland 2-1.
Liverpool captain Gerrard and striker
Suarez received the same amount of
votes. Gerrard, who wins the sixth Player
of the Month award of his career, scored
four goals in March, whilst Suarez scored
six. Suarez also won the award in
December.
Rodgers said: "It's not an individual award
really - all our successes are purely down
to a team effort. We receive it gratefully.
We've been on a wonderful run as a team
and over the course of March we've had
some outstanding fixtures and results.
"We are very honoured and humble to
receive it. Up until now we've been
performing really well and we've been
working really hard. Our results are
demonstrating that the improvements are
taking place.
"We've got a really exciting group of young
players here that are improving all the
time and the senior players have been
outstanding for me.
"They have really been wanting to take on
board new concepts and ideas and they've
been taking that on the field and
performing magnificently well.
"So for us at this point our objective is still
to make sure we qualify for the Champions
League - that objective hasn't changed and
that isn't secured yet.
"So at this moment in time the
concentration is just on the performance
and the next game."

Enyimba will rise again.

Nigerian premier league side Enyimba International F.C of Aba central midfielder Zaka Bala has
dismissed claim that the two-time CAF
Champions League winners were out of
the title race of the Glo Premier League.
Things have been tough for the Aba side,
who Monday placed their technical
adviser, Zachary Baraje and assistant,
Monday Odigie on indefinite suspension
over the poor performance of the side in
both the league and the CAF Champions
League, from which they have crashed
out.
It is so bad for the team from the east of
the Niger as they have managed to pick a
miserly four points from a possible 12.
But speaking in an interview, Bala said
the side will overcome their challenges
and become a far better team.
“I’m worried with what is going on at
Enyimba at the moment, the suspension
of coaches over poor results in some
matches, among other things.
“I strongly believe that all things work
together for good. Enyimba will surely
overcome its present challenges a better
side.
“The trying period is momentary and will
very soon go away to allow the side
reclaim its pride of place in the domestic
scene.
“Once we’re able to win one or two
matches the confidence will be back and
there won’t be any stopping the side any
longer,” added the former Kwara United
star in an interview with supersport.com.

Ibrahimovich travels to Sweden

Paris Saint-Germain
striker Zlatan
Ibrahimovic has
travelled to Sweden
for further treatment
on a hamstring strain.
Ibrahimovic picked up the injury in PSG's
3-1 Champions League quarter-final first-
leg win over Chelsea and consequently
missed the second leg of the tie on
Tuesday.
His absence proved costly as Chelsea
fought back to win 2-0 at Stamford Bridge,
levelling the tie at 3-3 and progressing on
the away goals rule.
Former Barcelona, Milan and Inter man
Ibrahimovic is expected to be out for
another three weeks, meaning that he will
miss PSG's Coupe de la Ligue final with
Lyon on April 19.
In a brief statement on their website, the
defending Ligue 1 champions confirmed
that the 32-year-old has returned to his
homeland to continue his recovery.
The statement read: "In consultation with
Paris Saint-Germain, Zlatan Ibrahimovic
travelled to Sweden on Wednesday to
continue treatment on his hamstring
strain."
Ibrahimovic has enjoyed a magnificent
season for PSG this term, scoring 40 goals
in all competitions.
Laurent Blanc's men will win the Ligue 1
title for a second straight season if they win
at Lyon on Sunday and Monaco lose at
Rennes.

Borussia Dortmund finally seals Sahin deal

Borussia
have confirmed they
will activate their
option to sign Nuri
Sahin from Real
Madrid on a permanent deal at the end of
the season.
The former Liverpool midfielder is currently
starring during his second spell with Jurgen
Klopp’s side, a loan agreement that expires
on June 30.
The Bundesliga side have now confirmed
they will take up an option in the terms of
the temporary deal with Madrid to sign the
25-year-old on a full-time basis once the
current season ends.
Neither club will officially comment further
until the deal goes through, but reports
suggest the transfer fee will be in the
region of €7 million.
"We informed the representatives from
Madrid around the time of the Champions
League quarter-final that we plan to make
use of this option to sign him,” Dortmund
CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke told Ruhr
Nachrichten.
Madrid won a thrilling tie against Dortmund
3-2 on aggregate to seal a place in the
Champions League semi-finals, with Sahin
playing a part in the first leg at the
Bernabeu.
The Turkey international has been a key
performer for Die Schwarzgelben this
season, appearing in all 29 of their
Bundesliga games to date, with an
additional nine Champions League
selections and three DFB-Pokal outings.
