Park Ji-Sung retires

SUWON, South Korea (AP) — Park Ji-
sung, a former Manchester United
regular and one of the stars of South Korea's run to the 2002 World Cup semifinals, has announced his retirement from top-flight football.

The 33-year-old Park played on loan with PSV Eindhoven from Queens Park Rangers this past season. He represented South Korea in three World Cups, scoring
at each tournament, and led the team to the second round at South Africa in 2010.

In all, he played more than 100
internationals in a professional career stretching back to 2000.

A high-energy, hard-working midfielder, Park followed manager Guus Hiddink from the national team to Eindhoven after the 2002 World Cup, then became the first South Korean to make an impact
in the Premier League after signing with Manchester United in 2005.
